Award certificate as an ÖKOPROFIT company

As in previous years, Sopro Bauchemie also received the ECOPROFIT company award for the period 2022/2023. An independent jury thus honoured Sopro's uninterrupted commitment to corporate environmental and climate protection at the Wiesbaden site, which has now lasted almost 20 years.

Exemplary ÖKOPROFIT company for two decades

In addition to the ÖKOPROFIT certificate, this year Sopro received a certificate issued by the German government's Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Networks Initiative, which recognised Sopro's contribution "to achieving the climate and energy policy goals of the Federal Republic of Germany".

Sopro memberships

Sopro Bauchemie is a member of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and of Minergie® in Switzerland. Many Sopro products can be successfully used in the course of DGNB building certifications. If you have any questions, please contact our DGNB Consultant (nachhaltigkeit(at)sopro.com).

Sustainably certified construction is also becoming increasingly important within the market. With the EUF initiatives "Healthy Living, Saving Energy and Designing with Ceramics", the ceramics industry and trade are increasingly focussing on this topic and gaining additional profile.

There is decisive future potential here. Sopro Bauchemie is actively involved as a partner within the EUF (European Union of Tile Associations).

The American certification system LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a rating system for classifying sustainable buildings. Depending on the client, LEED is also used in Germany and throughout the world. The tested, low-emission Sopro products can also score points here.

Low-emission

Our commitment to sustainable and ecological construction is demonstrated by our high-quality, low-emission products and specific projects. Ecological behaviour begins with the formulation of our products. We prioritise raw materials that significantly reduce or completely eliminate emissions or potential pollution for people and the environment.

The EMICODE® classification of GEV (Gemeinschaft emissionskontrollierte Verlegewerkstoffe, Klebstoffe und Bauprodukte e.V.) provides information on this. Sopro is a full member of GEV. Installation materials labelled with the EMICODE® seal EC2, EC1 or EC1PLUS are solvent-free and low-emission, and the EMICODE® logo indicates that the tested products are harmless in terms of emissions after processing.

The tested products therefore offer the greatest possible safety for human health through clean indoor air. Regular spot checks by independent experts and testing institutes ensure that the certified products comply with the limit values.

As a Sopro customer, you can score points with Sopro products in terms of health, environmental and indoor hygiene in a new build or modernisation project. We offer you emission-tested products in almost every product group - from primers to sealants, levelling compounds, decoupling and insulating boards, tile adhesives and joints.

This topic is also very important in France. That is why we also have our products tested in accordance with the French VOC regulation.

Environmentally friendly

As in previous years, Sopro Bauchemie also received the "ÖKOPROFIT company" award for the 2020/2021 period. This year, the company also received a certificate of honour. An independent jury thus recognised Sopro's uninterrupted commitment to corporate environmental and climate protection at the Wiesbaden site for over 17 years.

In 2000, the state capital of Wiesbaden established the "ÖKOPROFIT-Klub Wiesbaden" to support companies in the development of professional environmental and climate management.

The ECOPROFIT Club is now also part of the "National Energy Efficiency Action Plan". Sopro Bauchemie has also been involved in this exemplary energy efficiency and climate protection network throughout Germany for many years. In this way, the company is underpinning its responsibility for comprehensive environmental protection and quality of life in the region.

Since 2004, Sopro has undergone regular audits by an audit committee of the City of Wiesbaden under the auspices of the Environmental Agency.

The fact that Sopro is one of the companies with a particularly great passion and perseverance was underlined by the city of Wiesbaden with an additional certificate of honour, which Sopro received in addition to the award as an ECOPROFIT company 2020/2021.

The certificate recognised the company's 17 years of uninterrupted and sustained commitment to corporate environmental and climate protection, because - according to the jury - as a long-standing ECOPROFIT partner at the Wiesbaden site, Sopro Bauchemie has successfully implemented a large number of environmentally relevant measures in recent years. These range from sustainable energy management for electricity and heat and optimisation of material efficiency to the reduction of CO2 emissions and consistent waste avoidance and waste separation. In recent years, all of this has led to significant reductions in energy, water and resource consumption as well as waste generation - and therefore to significant savings.

Membership of the ÖKOPROFIT-Klub Wiesbaden is part of Sopro's comprehensive sustainability strategy, which is now firmly anchored in the company's philosophy. At Sopro, this means achieving environmental, social and economic goals simultaneously and on an equal footing. "Membership of the ÖKOPROFIT-Klub Wiesbaden and the energy efficiency network is an important building block that underpins the credibility of our sustainability efforts," says the company.

International commitment

As a company, we also see it as our international responsibility not only to seek solutions for environmentally friendly products and production processes, but also to pursue them consistently.

Sopro is a MINERGIE® member in Switzerland

In Switzerland and parts of France, the MINERGIE® system plays a major role when it comes to sustainability. As a MINERGIE® member, Sopro has had five selected Sopro products tested within this system. This means that the following five products can be used successfully in the course of a construction project with the aim of achieving MINERGIE® certification:

  • Sopro Primer GD 749
  • Sopro FS 15® plus Flow Filler 550
  • Sopro FliesenFest extra FF 450
  • Sopro's No. 1 400
  • Sopro DF 10® DesignFuge Flex

All five products fulfil the highest requirements of ecobau and MINERGIE-ECO with regard to ecological and health requirements and have been awarded the eco-1 rating.

Sopro products comply with the French VOC regulation

Sopro products from a wide range of application areas were tested in accordance with the classification obligation for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which has been mandatory in France since September 2012. Almost all tested products achieved the best classification "A+ - very low emission". This can be seen from the VOC label, which is based on the efficiency class categorisation for electrical appliances. The classes are differentiated according to A+ (very low emissions), A through B to class C (high emissions).

Sopro is part of the sustainability strategy of the state of Hessen.

In May 2022, Sopro joined the initiative for responsible, sustainable business in Hesse. The Wiesbaden-based company is thus adding another forward-looking project to its diverse activities in the area of sustainability.

By signing the charter for responsible, sustainable business in Hesse, Sopro Bauchemie GmbH is once again documenting that the issue of sustainability is firmly anchored in its corporate philosophy.

The business initiative launched by the state of Hesse consists of companies, local authorities, universities and associations of all sizes and from all sectors. The aim of the network is to actively support the transformation discourse on the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda in order to anchor sustainable action locally and make Hesse a centre of innovation for sustainable business. "In order to achieve this goal, the initiative focuses on dialogue on the major challenges of the upcoming transformation, good practice examples and the exchange of experiences among participants," said Hessian Environment Minister Priska Hinz at this year's annual conference of the Hesse Economic Initiative.

A project that Sopro Bauchemie also fully supports. The name Sopro not only stands for the outstanding quality of construction chemical products, the company has also been committed to sustainable, ecological construction and socially responsible management for many years.

Sopro's high standards are backed not only by words, but also by tangible facts. For example, the company has been successfully participating in the "Ökoprofit" sustainability project of the state capital of Wiesbaden without interruption since 2004 and is also a member of the German government's "Energy Efficiency Networks Initiative". Sopro is also a member of the "German Sustainable Building Council DGNB". In addition, Sopro fulfils its responsibility to people, nature, the environment and future generations in an exemplary manner with numerous certified "healthy living" products.
